Udaipur administration has supposedly come in for a rude shock subsequent to the Ayad River cleaning process that began on 2nd October on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

As the cleaning work progresses along the river bed, the administration is faced with hidden sewerage lines across the river length along with illegal encroachment on the banks – some constructed and some semi constructed.

Earlier, a few years ago, some encroachment had been identified and action was taken, however, with the structured cleaning work beginning this year, more complex encroachment have been identified.  Of the 172 encroachment identified along the 26 km long river bank, most of them have not been removed – action against which is expected in this drive.  A team consisting of members from the UIT, UMC and Revenue Department are taking action against the encroachments. 86 encroachments have been removed till Siphon.  The action against encroachment had begun in December 2014.
