In a major blow that took place in afternoon today, more than two hundred residence of sector 14’s S1 and S2 area witnessed power cut, after electric meters of each house gutted into fire that broke out due to alleged short circuit.

A number of household electronic appliances got damaged in the incident; one of the houses also caught fire, but was immediately controlled by the localities. A female reportedly fell unconscious due to smoke.

Agitated by the incident, hundreds of people came out on road and started protesting against the RSEB (Rajasthan State Electricity Board) and demanded compensation for the loss.

People surrounded both Junior Engineer and Executive Engineer of the substation, who came to investigate the incidence.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ata-ur-Rahman and Goverdhanlal Khatik C.I. Goverdhan Vilas, rushed to the scene and took the situation under control. A fire brigade vehicle also reached the spot.

According to the protesting localites, today’s incident is the second time in last two years. First time it occurred near Goverdhan Vilas Chungi Naka.

The agitated crowd was controlled only after RSEB assured to give compensation for all the losses.
