There have been 3 robberies in 15 hours in the city on Sunday. Thieves even looted a temple.

On Sunday 3^rd September, 3 places were targeted by thieves out of which one is a temple. In a span of 15 hours, a house and a temple were robbed. Thieves robbed a lone house and escaped with cash and jewellery worth 6 lakh rupees. A temple was also targetted at Patel Circle from where 30 thousand in cash and a silver chatr(umbrella) weighing around half a kilo were taken away. A jewellery shop was also broken into but this attempt failed as someone raised an alert.

In one of the incidents at Sector 14 Hiranmagri, the family had gone shopping when the theft took place. Jewellery worth 6 lakhs was stolen from their house in Housing Board colony. Residents of S2 block in Dwarikapuri was out of their home between 12:30 and 3 p.m. Victim Lokesh Mathur said that on their return home at 3 p.m. they found that lock was broken. After entering the house he discovered that 2 almirahs were broken and 30 thousand rupees in cash along with jewellery worth 6 lakhs were gone. The thieves probably used some tools to break the almirah doors. There is a holy altar right in front of the house and being Sunday, some ritual was going on with loud drum beats. That is a possibility why anyone did not hear the sound of tools used for breaking the almirah. Investigations are on.

Residents in Badgaon area, where the jewellery shop is, raised an agitation to which police gave the alibi of less staff. Residents around Khan Complex in Badgaon said that every now and then such incidents are happening. Despite demanding regular police patrol in the area, no steps have been taken in this direction. Even last month, thieves had tried to steal a bike from the complex but couldn’t succeed as they were noticed by someone. When the incidents were reported to police, it is said that police put down their hands saying it was not possible for just a few policemen to keep a check everywhere. They said that their police station has got only three jawans.

The thieves used a rod to raise the shutter of the jewellery shop in Badgaon, reported the shop owner Rahul Soni. Someone probably noticed this and raised an alert. As a result the thieves had to leave empty handed. Rahul Soni also said that he tried to dial 100 but could connect only after half an hour. After he had reported the incident, Madan Mohan Sharma from Badgaon police station reached the spot an hour later. After hearing grievances, Madan Mohan Sharma simply instructed Rahul Soni to install CCTV cameras. He even asked Soni to carry all the expensive items home every day. Rahul Soni was also told to reach the police station for lodging complaint but no complaint was registered when he reached. Instead the police only issued instructions for him to be careful and noted his matter on a plain paper.
