The guardians and parents of those students that had participated in the 3-day long counseling session held at Pacific college on Thursday raised objections on the college management and blamed it for irregularities in the process of admission in 20 medical and dental colleges.

The agitated students called out slogans against the college management and had blocked the Debari highway. Soon a huge police force was deployed on the scene to control the situation. ADM City O.P Bunker went for the verification and accepted that there might be some irregularities. He also met the secretary of the University and checked the records.

On the other side one Maher Singh, a parent from Bikaner lodged his complaint at Pratap Nagar police station in relation to the matter. Maher claimed that his son Ashish had got 466 rank but even then he did not get admission and another girl was allotted the seat in his place.

The counseling was held for 1821 seats of 4 private medical colleges and 14 dental colleges of the state. However the contradiction between the agencies organizing the examination and counseling left 1173 seats vacant.

Sources informed that in MBBS, for 461 seats 484 students had been selected through counseling, whereas all 1360 seats of BDS remained vacant.

Sharad Kothari, registrar of the university informed that it was a mistake of MDS as they have given admissions to even those students who are not eligible for it. Around 1100 student had scored less than 50% marks and are not eligible for getting admission in MDS. Kothari further added that they have also asked guidelines from the government for the vacant seats.

Following the matter the representatives of Aam Admi Party went to the collectorate in support of Maher Singh’s complaint to meet SP. They have also demanded thorough investigation of the matter during their protest.
