Railings alongside Fatehsagar Lake have gone weak and are an open invitation for mishaps.

Fatehsagar Lake is surrounded by stone railings which people use for sitting while enjoying the beauty of lake. The railings are damaged and are an open invitation to danger. They have gone weak enough to fall which can prove to be a danger to life.

It has been happening since long that the railing around Fatehsagar Lake is often damaged with the stones developing cracks due to natural reasons. This situation is hazardous since a lot of public hops on to these stone structures using them as seat while enjoying their get together with friends. The pillars supporting these stone railings are broken which can cause the railing to fall with or even without pressure. This is an alarming situation since the damage is visible during the day but night makes it difficult for anyone to assess the condition. As a result, the railing can fall anytime causing people to fall in the lake. With the level of water going higher, a fall can result in drowning.

UIT chairman Ravindra Shrimali informed that repair work of the railing has already started. On Wednesday, upon receiving information about damaged railings in different places, JEN of the concerning department inspected the area and assured that the railing will soon be repaired.

Till then, public is requested to stay aware of the situation and be extra careful after dark so as to avoid any mishap. Since monsoon has started showing its colours, level of water is on the rise and a sudden fall may prove fatal.
