Alleged Police Harassment: Shops at Fateh Sagar Closed in protest
Shops at Udaipur's Queens Necklace, Fateh Sagar remained closed today as a mark of protest against alleged continual harassment by the police officials with the tourist, students, local families, shopkeepers and the people who comes to Fateh Sagar with their vehicles.

Fateh Sagar Business Association President, Bharat Sahu informed, “today we closed our shops against the continuous harassment of the police”.
He said that police officials harass the students who come to enjoy the lake and sit there for a while. They have little pocket money with them, but policemen cut challans of more than 200/- rupees for Identification card or petty issues like this everytime. Even families sitting there were asked to move, he said that husband and wife did not carry their marriage certificate with them all the time but these “policewalas” harass them for money. He added that even tourists were charged by the policemen for some or the other thing every time.
The official time to close the shops there is 11 0’clock at night but the “policewalas” come whistling to close the shops at 10:30pm itself. He also suggested that the time to close the shops must be increased up till quarter to twelve or 11:30 at least.
Bhart Sahu said that today all the shops as well as boating remained closed and a Memorandum in this regard has been given to the Divisional Commissioner, District Collector, SP(City) and DYSP (Traffic).
