Members of the University Employees Union a.k.a. Akhil Vishvavidyalaya Karmchari Mahasangh (AVKM), Rajasthan presented a memorandum to the District Collector today in the name of the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. The organization demands that proper attention be given to the various problems being faced by the University employees.

Their main demands include allocation of sufficient pension funds to all the Universities in the state, their representation in the Board of Management and recruitment on vacant positions in the Universities.

Bharat Vyas, Vice-President, AVKM told UdaipurTimes.com, “All the Universities in Rajasthan are suffering from a severe lack of pension funds. We have, on multiple occasions attracted the attention of authorities over this matter.”

AVKM had protested in front of the Legislative Assembly on 26th March, 2012 and was promised action and a meeting with the Chief Minister, though the promise is not yet been fulfilled. This is one of the reasons for the anguish of the Employees Union.

Allocate Pension Funds to Univ Employees, demands AVKM“We want the regulations of ICAR [Indian Council of Agricultural Research] and UGC [University Grant Commission] to be enforced”, Vyas stated in a demanding voice.

It should be noted that Rajasthan Technical University, Kota is the only one in the state where employees aren’t included in the pension scheme. The organization asks for their inclusion too.

The memo also cites that Universities of Rajasthan haven’t had any new recruits in the last 25 years.
