Lake Lovers have expressed their anguish over garbage being disposed off in the city’s lakes. Empty liquor bottles have been pulled out of lakes despite the fact that we have a Lake Patrol team.

Garbage and empty liquor bottles are being pulled out of Pichola Lake. Lake lovers are agitated with the fact that public is not bothered about the importance of water and the need to keep it clean. On Sunday, Lake Lovers cleared a lot of garbage and empty liquor bottles thrown in Lake Pichola.

Members of Jheel Hitaishi Nagrik Manch cleaned Rangsagar, Chandpole, Amarkund, Sattapole and Gangaur Ghat lake sides. Around 1 quintal of garbage and 18 empty bottles of water and liquor were pulled out of the lake from these points.

As per Haji Sardar Mohammed, people even throw coconut in the lake after consuming coconut water. The team labouring at the lake side consisted of Kamlesh Purohit, Haji Noor Mohammed, Sohan Lal Kalyana, Damodar Kumawat, Kishore Gehlot, Saish Mewara, Khubilal, Manish Golcha, AR Khan and Anwar Sheikh. Some other Lake Lovers also contributed in clearing garbage from Pichola.  Dr. Anil Mehta, Tej Shankar Paliwal, Nand Kishore Sharma, Pallab Datta etc. also contributed in cleaning of lake.
