On the call of the United Forum of the Bank Union, the Bandh in the Government banks was successful today. On the first day of the 2-day strike, the usual chores of the banks remained hindered and employees of the Udaipur region were seen participating in the protest at the Bank Tiraha in Bapu Bazar.
The strike was called on the issues related to reforms in the sector, privatization, outsourcing banking chores, pension facilities and other details.
“The strike today has been a success all over the country. Banking services have been affected and paralyzed”, said C. H. Venkatachalam, General Secretary, All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA).
In the region, leaders and officials including B.K. Jain, Convener addressed the gathering saying, “It is illogical to lay the blame of a bank or branch not doing well, on an employee who is working to his best in the given frame.”
Banking operations were ceased for the day in all nationwide banks and transactions related to those were also not effected, making the Bandh a success.
Tomorrow would be the second and last day of the strike, and going by today’s events in the strike, protestors are not expected to leave any gaps open in portraying their demands.
