The Bar Association of Udaipur has marked 11th and 12th July as ‘Protest Day’ and has presented a memorandum in the name of the President of India to the District Collector to demand withdrawal of 4 bills from the Parliament.

The bills include Higher Education and Research Bill-2011; The National Accreditation Regulatory Authority for Higher Education Bill-2010; The Foreign Education Institution (Regulation of Entry and operation) Bill-2010 and The National Law School Bill-2011.

Mahendra Nagda, Secretary General of Bar Association of Udaipur, stated “The bills will be damaging for Indian Culture, Indian Institutions, Poor Students and the coming generation. This has enraged a lot of Advocates”.

Memo claims the bills will pose a threat to sovereignty of the Bar Council and will forbid the progress of the Advocate community.

The Advocate community has boycotted all the legal jobs, as they had admonished in their previous memorandums. Nagda said “Given our legit demands, all of these bills must be withdrawn else our movement will turn aggressive”.
