Bird destination Roop Sagar in pathetic condition
Bird destination Roop Sagar is losing its importance because of garbage and stench.
Bird destination Roop Sagar has witnessed more than 600 migratory birds this season. Shocking fact is that Roop Sagar is in a pathetic condition now.
Roop Sagar which is now the only bird destination is a victim of garbage and smell that makes you puke. This is not only affecting visitors and bird lovers but also the birds. Bird specialists are worried that this condition will lead to birds moving away from this place and eventually there will be no hope left for them to come back ever again. This would also result in masses hating this place. The importance of Roop Sagar will be lost forever if this situation is not controlled.
Bird specialist Vinay Dave said that Roop Sagar has Shoveler, Pintail, Common Pochard, Gadwall, Common Teal, Spot Bill duck, River Tern bird, Black Wing Stilt, Ibis and many more species in this season. Since Roop Sagar has become more of a dumping yard, it is impossible for the bird lovers to even stand for a few minutes and take a view of these beautiful winged creatures. The birds are not coming towards the shore, hence public cannot enjoy a close view. Now that the air is full of stench and people cannot even breathe into it, how can the birds survive in this area!!
Birds do not like to stay in a dirty area. They do not even appreciate any kind of disturbance. Garbage in the water body is risky for both birds and humans. Once the birds sense that this area of Roop Sagar is not habitable anymore, they will stop coming here which will be a big loss for nature tourism and other bird lovers. The important factor is that birds will migrate to some other areas in near future, but where will humans go if the issue is not solved.
