A blackmailer has been nabbed by Pratapnagar police. He was befriending females on facebook through fake ids.

Pratapnagar police have arrested Mahesh Chandra resident of Mohan Nagar Kareda coloy of Ghaziabad in UttarPradesh. Mahesh made fake ids on facebook and befriended females. After the friendship request was accepted by females, Mahesh contacted these females and chatted with them. After a lot of sweet-talking, he asked these females to give him some money.  When these women refused to give him money, he blackmailed them by saying he would post indecent things on their timeline.

SI Hanuwant Singh said that they received a complaint from someone living in RHB colony. As per the complainant, his wife received a friend request on facebook. His wife accepted the request though the person was stranger to her. The two people chatted for some time on facebook.  In June 2017, the stranger demanded money from the complainant’s wife. When she refused to give him money, this man threatened to post indecent and inappropriate things on her facebook page. She got worried and deactivated her facebook id. Somehow this man got her whatsapp number and started sending her dirty comments. He even threatened her that he would publicise her photographs and create trouble for her. He demanded 50000 rupees from the woman to stay put. After all this, the couple reported this incident to the police.

Police have now arrested this man and recovered 2 mobiles from him. When his mobiles were scrutinised, police found that he had made several fake ids under male and female names and was constantly chatting with “victims”. He is now in judicial custody.

Planned arrest

The complainant was advised by the police to send money to this fraud guy through courier. Since money could not be sent through courier, the blackmailer asked the victim to insert money in the pocket of a trouser and courier the same. The address given by the blackmailer was of Ghaziabad. Police kept tracking the courier. When the courier reached Ghaziabad, a woman came to take delivery. After interrogation, the woman revealed that she was the blackmailer’s wife. Police then went with her to her house and arrested the blackmailer Mahesh.
