Four lives were lost in a fatal incident that occurred in the Manvakheda area on the outskirts of Udaipur. Four labourers of a contracting company met their end after they drowned in the sewerage line in Manvakheda. All four had entered the sewerage line to do repair and maintenance and installations.
On getting information of the accident, Police immediately rushed to the spot, where people had already gathered in dozens. A fire brigade team as well as a team from Civil Defense were called to assist in removing the bodies from the sewerage line. All four bodies have been removed from the sewerage line.

Investigations are on to establish the cause of the shocking incident that resulted in the death of these four labourers simultaneously. Authorities are contemplating electric shock as a live wire is present in the sewerage line and shock cannot be ruled out. Suffocation could well be the other reason.
Going back in time, deaths have also occurred recently when labourers had entered a septic tank and the poisonous gases caused suffocation and resulted in death. Unorganised and unprotected work points towards the callous attitude of authorities in this matter. Onlookers at the spot of the fatal incident today also expressed anger over the supposedly callous attitude of the authorities.
