More than 200 pilgrims from Rajasthan have been safely rescued from the flood hit areas of Uttranchal, said Udaipur District Collector Vikas Bhale after having a short conversation with his counterpart in Rudraprayag. However, the concerned relatives of 85 pilgrims of Udaipur region (divided in two groups of 53-29) are very worried as they are yet to receive any information about their kins. Most of these people are from Bhinder, Kanor, Sihad and Kheroda areas of Udaipur. Contact has been established with only five people through telephone while the others are still out of reach.
Relatives of the pilgrims stranded in Uttranchal demonstrated today, outside the Collector’s office and blocked the main road while demanding to meet the District Collector Vikas Bhale. The demonstrators while chanting anti government slogans continuously asked police officials to allow them to meet the Collector. Later, under the leadership of Randheer Singh Bhinder, ex-MLA, a group of people met Collector and expressed their concern. Collector Vikas Bhale said that, “State Government is trying their best to rescue the pilgrims and four higher officials are being sent to the spot.”
