The constant cry of locals went literally unheard by the deaf ears of local civic administration, which seems to be trapped in its own web of inappropriate city planning and management.

Onetime peaceful residential colonies at Durga Nursery road have now become a hot commercial spot; the increasing traffic has disturbed the neighbourhood.

Civic administration has almost failed to curb Traffic jams, asymmetrical parking, accidents and several other problems which have bothered everyone living or doing business at Durga Nursery road, since long time.

More than 15 coaching centres and tuition classes are flourishing at Durga Nursery Road making it one of the top student hubs in the city. However, very few such tuition centres have their own parking facilities.

As a result, students park their vehicles anywhere outside any shop, wherever they find space which creates problems for the shopkeepers of the area.

According to Mohit Asnani, a businessman, numbers of vehicles are always parked outside their shops, which results in traffic jams, accidents and affect their day to day business activities.

A group of businessmen under the banner of Durga Nursery Businessmen Association visited the administrative officer who expressed his helplessness over the issue and suggested the business owners to take legal actions against tuition centres.

However, legal steps against anyone will not solve the issue forever till the authority themselves take up the responsibility to fix the problem.

Mohit said that when they gave memorandum to police they were suggested to take lawful action against coaching institutes, and the officer further told them that illegal parking is Municipal Corporation’s duty.

In words of Puneet Wadhwani, another local businessman, a 7.5 feet wide pavement on either side of the road is defined for parking vehicles, but it is allegedly encroached by the hawkers and tea stalls.
