Children fiddle with escalator buttons at railway station
Slum kids create trouble at the railway station.
Public is not getting the opportunity to use the escalators at the railway station. Reportedly the escalator buttons are being fiddled with by kids coming from the slums nearby. It has been observed that children hailing from the slum area near the railway station press the escalator’s emergency button very often which brings the escalator to a halt. Passengers are therefore forced to use stairs for going from platform no.1 to platform no. 2.
This notoriety of these kids is causing enough inconvenience to the old-aged and divyangs. Though the lift with a capacity of 20 passengers is operative from platform no. 2 to platform no. 3, yet it is not available in times of need as these slum kids are seen using this lift most of the times.
Senior section engineer Katara said that platform staff puts on the escalator button the moment they notice that it is not working, but the kids are too notorious and keep pressing the emergency button. The emergency button cannot be kept in an enclosure for obvious reasons. The situation needs to be dealt with strictness.
