In a humanitarian demand made today by the members of the Youth Congress, a Memorandum was given to the Additional District Magistrate (Admin.), B.R. Bhati requesting compensation to affected farmers near and around Udaisagar after their farms have been destroyed due to water flow.
Due to heavy rains in and around the city of Udaipur, Lakes Pichola and Fathesagar overflowed and the water reached Udaisagar, making the historic lake overflow for a few days.
The celebrations at one end, though, brought about a lot of distress to the small farmers whose crops got damaged due to the backwaters logging in the catchment area of the lake.
Jay Prakash Nimawat youth congress leader said that this is a huge loss for a small farmer whose family income depends on selling of these petty vegetables and due to backwater logging these farmers have suffered a lot.
Members also demanded to barricade the “Sukha Naka Bridge” as overflowing water might cause an accident.
B.R. Bhati (ADM) Administration assured the members of the Youth Congress that he will look into the matter of the compensation and ordered for the barricade at the bridge.
