Roopsagar is getting polluted day by day.

UIT has gone ahead with the beautification of Roopsagar pal but it has overlooked the sources of contaminated water falling into this water body. No action has been taken against construction happening near the water body.

Roopsagar was saved from the dumping of marble slurry but the fact that is being overlooked is that contaminated water from the colonies alongside Roopsagar is polluting this beautiful area. Though there is no water in Roopsagar now, yet it has pot holes which are full of contaminated water coming from the colonies. Administration is not looking into this matter and construction is going on at a fast pace alongside and even in the lake bed. Some houses have been constructed in areas with no drainage system and the builders have opened links for waste disposal into Roopsagar.

Roopsagar can be developed like Fatehsagar once it is full of water but the entry of waste and contaminated water must be looked into with priority. If no action is taken against the waste falling into this pond, the city will lose one of its water bodies which can also be a place of relaxation in times to come. Member of Lake Development Authority, Tej Shankar Paliwal, said that the channels must be opened in the hills of Chitrakoot which bring in water into this pond during monsoons. Roopsagar needs to be conserved with immediate effect.
