Contaminated water kills fishes in Lake Pichola

On Tuesday, a huge variety of fish were found dead in Lake Pichola. As informed, the sewerage water falling in the lake has contaminated the water hence killing the fishes. It may be noted that Lake Pichola is one of the sources of drinking water and despite this fact negligence is being observed regarding the lake. Sewerage water is constantly falling into the lake and the stench is spreading everywhere.

Until now, samples of water have been taken several times for testing purposes yet no concrete action has been taken. The water under the Chandpole bridge looks multi-coloured. On one side it looks milky white and on the other side it is full of waste and bears the colour of soil. On Tuesday, people found that the stench was going beyond control and they discovered that lots of fish had died in the water and were floating. The complaint was immediately sent to the district Collector and action was demanded at the earliest.

Post the complaint, the collector issued directives for the eradication of this issue after which samples were taken again. The employees cleared the dead fish, too. Lake development authority is demanding immediate and permanent action to stop the sewerage water from falling into the lake.
