Subsequent to recurring accidents, the contractor was given 10 days to overhaul the Children Train plying at Gulab Bagh.

A review of the condition of the train was conducted by the Contractor and administration of Gulab Bagh in the presence of Deputy Mayor and Deputy Commissioner of UMC Himmatsingh Barhath.  During the inspection, the train appeared to be unfit for commissioning.

Expressing disappointment and concern, both officers gave a 10 day deadline to the contractor to complete repair and maintenance on the vehicle.

To be noted that on May 15 this year, the train had overturned while plying, causing injury to six people, three among who were children.  Inspite of the incident, the contractor did not inform the Garage Committee.  Understanding the dire situation, the Mayor ordered the train service to be shutdown till further orders.

The Committee has in parallel started work on the tender process for DPR of a new train, which will conclude on the 5^th of next month.  This DPR tender is expected to cost Rs. 3.5 lac and tenders have been invited from people trained by the railway department, retired track inspectors, retired junior engineers and retired assistant engineers of the railway department.  The DPR will include details regarding width of the track, length of the track, size of the sleepers and cabins, etc.  The project estimate will be determined after the DPR is finalized.
