A courier company has been penalised for not delivering a parcel and later returning it to the sender proving negligence in their working system.

DTDC Express Courier Company has been directed by District Consumer Forum to pay 2500 rupees as fine and also ordered to give parcel booking charges to the complainant for hurting the sentiments by not delivering the parcel on a special occasion.

Geetanjali Singh booked a parcel containing Rakhi to be sent to her brother in Army in Pune. She booked her parcel that had sweets and 2 T-shirts for her brother along with Rakhi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan festival. This parcel was booked way back in 2016. The parcel was not delivered to her brother in Army. When Geetanjali enquired with Udaipur and Pune offices of DTDC Express, they did not give her any satisfactory reply. Three months later, she was informed that her parcel was not sent to Pune at all and was lying in their office. They even returned the parcel to the sender.

Geetanjali registered a complaint with District Consumer Forum that her sentiments were hurt as the parcel was meant for a special occasion and the courier company was negligent enough not to deliver it.
