Dalits Protest against Panchayat's Decision of expelling FamiliesHundreds of people protested against the decision of Panchayat Samiti, Chipala Village, Gogunda who ostracized 40 Dailt families a month back due to a conflict between a Dalit and Rajput neighbor of the village.

Demonstrators from Udaipur, Rajsamand, Pali, Ahmadabad, Sumerpur, Kumbhal Garh etc gathered in front of district collector’s office and demanded quick and effective action by the administration as none of the identified accused is detained yet and the victim families are living in a stressful situation.

Panchayat of Chipala Village ordered to ostracize all 40 Dalit families residing in the village after the ‘accused’ dalit family had denied paying fine amount of Rs.21000 for reconstructing its house a bit higher than its neighbor’s house that belongs to higher caste.

The protest was led majorly by Meghwal community with many other caste and sub caste including banished families of Chipala Village supporting the protest.

Former Minister Kailash Meghwal in his address to the demonstrator said that even after 65 years of independence, our country is socially backward and confined to such caste systems that encourage domination of higher caste over lower caste.

“We organized Yagya in front of collectorate and prayed for communal harmony which is missing today resulting in such a situation” said Meghwal.
