The flying squad of Udaipur Municipal council (UMC) came empty handed due to lack of coordination between police and Council’s officials when the team went to demolish the alleged illegal construction at Bhopalpura.

The team from UMC came into action today morning, after the public outrage broke out a few days back against the construction of 5 storey building on the main road of Bhopalpura.

According to Nanalal Regar, Revenue Officer of Udaipur Municipal Council, Plot number 342 of Bhopalpura had the permission to construct G+2 storey building, however the property which belongs to the Yashwant Jain, Anita Jain, Akhilesh, Dinesh and Ragini Suhalka has been illegally constructed up to third, fourth and fifth floor and also has a basement, without permission of the Municipal Council.

Regar said that “we reached the spot today morning for the demolition of the illegally constructed floors and information regarding this had been given to the nearby police station, yet the back up enforcement didn’t reach on time and our men went upstairs to demolish the upper floor.”

At the scene, the owners of the building also reached and asked for the written permission for demolition. At this Regar and M.L Samar, 2nd In-charge of the operation, told the owners to get the copy from the office. Heated conversation took place between the council’s officials and the owners and the situation became little bit tense.

Some of the nearby residents on condition of anonymity said that UMC is not doing its work properly and because of the influence of the owners and corruption in the administrative department, they are not demolishing the illegally constructed building and only removing some shuttering material. They also alleged that is UMC is waiting for the accused to bring stay order from the court.

“The building has been constructed without prior permission, owner has only been permitted to build G+2, all the third, fourth and fifth floors, including the basement are illegal, our officials are taking action on this. The matter will be discussed in our Permission Committee Meeting”, said Satya Narayan Acharya, Commissioner of UMC.

“We got information about this matter, however, extra back-up enforcements comes from police lines not from the Police Station”, Satish Meena, C. I., Bhopalpura Police Station told UT on phone.
