An argument between a doctor and lab technician resulted in technician being slapped by the doctor. The incident has reportedly taken place in Central Lab of RNT Medical College.

As per sources, some people went to collect a report from the lab. Lab technician was busy in handing over the report to the patient’s family. In the meantime, a doctor in the lab gave an urgent slide to the technician with specific instructions to be followed. His instructions probably were not attended to immediately which irritated the doctor. The doctor then rushed inside the lab and pushed the technician in anger. After this he went to the extent of slapping the technician. The lab technician got scared and ran out of the lab. All this was witnessed by the computer operator inside the lab.

It has been reported that seeing a lot of crowd collecting outside the lab, the doctor locked himself up in the lab. Lab in-charge was informed who tried to settle the matter between the doctor and technician. There were 2 others present in the lab when the doctor locked himself up for safety. The lab in-charge even asked the doctor and the lab technician to hug each other for peaceful compromise but the technician did not approve of this as he felt that injustice was being done in this matter.

Other lab technicians even demanded that the doctor should apologise but the doctor reportedly refused to do so. Agitated with this, all the lab technicians then demanded a written apology from the doctor. They have threatened that if a written apology is not given, they would go on a strike.

A lot of patients were seen suffering because of the delay in the working of lab. The accused doctor has even denied slapping the lab technician. The lab technician has said that there were many witnesses in the lab and the scene can be confirmed with them. The lab in-charge said that it was a mere misunderstanding and that the matter would be settled internally.
