DYFI Demands Compensation for Wall Collapse VictimsDemocratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), an Indian Left-Wing Youth Organization appealed B.R. Bhati, Additional District Collector for a compensation of Rs. 5 lac, to the families of Vikram Singh and his cousin Devi Singh who died due to wall collapse in Swaraj Nagar Ward No. 16 area on July 11 due to heavy rain.

Both Vikram Singh and Devi Singh lost their life when the wall of an adjoining house fell over the room they were sleeping.

Vikram Singh used to work at Narayan Seva Sansthan. His father Ganesh Singh is an auto rickshaw driver and Vikram was a big supportive hand to his father.

The family is now forced to live in their neighbor’s house as their house has been completely wrecked. The family is now under extreme financial stress.

Members of DYFI extended their support to the family and requested administration for the compensation amount of Rs. 5 lacs. They also demanded an amount for reconstruction of the worn-out house.

DYFI further expressed their concern that many daily wage earners of Udaipur live in semi/completely wrecked houses that are under serious danger of collapse in heavy rains.

Recently, on 10th and 11th July, 2012, a couple of people lost their lives and quite a lot of asset loss was recorded in the Machla Magra Area. Memorandum for compensation for these people was also handed over to the officials earlier but there is yet to be any revert on the same.
