There have been many episodes of jewellery snatching and robbing in Udaipur in the last 4 years. It is disappointing that police have not yet been able to nab all the criminals in these cases. Past 4 years, many incidents of chain snatching, robbing old ladies at home, snatching purses and mobiles have taken place. Due to this females are fearful of moving out alone or even staying alone at home. They are not safe anywhere whether it is market, mall or even temple.

Reportedly 100 incidents involving chain snatching have come to light. But more than 50 percent of the culprits are yet to be arrested. The criminals are moving around without fear. You might not get to know if the man standing next to you in the bank turns out to be a chain snatcher…because these people disappear like wind. Their activities are well planned and even police has not been able to track many of them.

Last year itself in 2017, there have been more than 25 incidents of chain snatching in Udaipur city. Most of the snatchers are still not behind bars and are surely looking for the next prey.
