Escalator at railway station stays non-operative
Escalator at the railway station stays off most of the time.
Public is not able to avail escalator facility at the railway station. Reportedly this escalator, which attracted a budget of 2 crore rupees, stays non-operative most of the time. A number of people have expressed their dissatisfaction towards the rarely functioning escalator.
When a reality check was performed, the concerned officers said that the escalator is shut down only for maintenance purpose. It has been reported that only a short while after this clarification, the escalator was put back into action. Passengers have been constantly complaining that the escalator hardly works for 2 hours in a day, rest of the time it stays in a non-operative state. It may be noted that the lift facility is available for passengers going on platform 2 and 3.
Almost 3000 passengers go towards second entry gate and platform 2 and 3 from platform 1. Since the escalator stays off mostly, travellers are forced to lift their baggage from one platform to the other. The escalator was recently inaugurated in April by Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria. In its first month itself, the escalator has invited raised eyebrows. What comes next is to be assessed soon.
