Flood of Tourists disturbs Traffic at Fateh Sagar

Udaipur, on the very beginning of tourist season 2012, which extends till January, is facing parking problem at various tourist spots located in various parts of the town; conditions turn more worst, when there is no traffic cop to take control over the situation.

Udaipur, on the very beginning of tourist season 2012, which extends till January, is facing parking problem at various tourist spots located in various parts of the town; conditions turn more worst, when there is no traffic cop to take control over the situation.

One such shocking day was reported today, when a large number of local tourists were seen at Fatehsagar, shortage of parking space in the area and absence of authorities led to inappropriate parking of four wheelers on both sides of the road.

According to the sources, the situation becomes more intense in evenings, a long queue of vehicles can be seen along Bambiya Bazaar, till the over flow gates near pal. “Traffic police reached around 9.30 pm yesterday”, informed a business owner at the bazaar.

“Necessary instructions have been issued to the concerned authority, but unavailability of proper parking space at tourist destinations makes the issue becomes more complicated”, said Tej Raj Singh, Additional S. P., Udaipur City.

Tourist season in Udaipur takes its start with Durga Puja in mid of October and continues till January. During the season, city witnesses a huge crowd of tourists both Indian and foreign, the total count of tourists reported in 2011 were around 2.8 crore across the State of Rajasthan.

Among the total tourists in past season, Udaipur shared around 2.6% of both Indian and foreign visitors, while the current season is expecting around 10 lac tourists in the city of lakes.
