Groups stand up for Crime against Women
As a part of ongoing ‘One Billion Rising’ movement around the world, several social organizations, student unions, independent social workers and citizens of Udaipur came out today in the form of a rally and protested against the crimes and violence against women and to strengthen and safeguard the rights of the women.

In the morning, people formed several groups and spread their message by distributing pamphlets at Chetak Circle, Pratap Nagar, Delhi Gate, Mullatalai Chouraha, Saiphan Chauraha, Fatehpura, Paras Chauraha etc places in the city.
To spread awareness about the protection of women rights, students of Rajasthan Vidhyapeeth’s School of Social Work and Secondary School Mavli conducted a Nukkad Natak at prominent public places in the city.
Thereafter, a human chain was made at Delhi gate and a rally was conducted from Delhi Gate to the collectorate where all the activists submitted a memorandum to the collector stating their several demands.
The protestors demanded to bring in the women police station inside the city, to appoint an independent conservation office under Domestic Violence Act, to strictly apply the laws that are already in place for women safety, to develop a system in which FIR can be lodged online, to pass the women reservation bill, to make committees in all the government offices against sexual discrimination etc.
Talking on the issue, social activist Usha from Vikalp Organization said, “Women and society as a whole will have to come forward and fight against the evil mentality; we must speak up and stand for the oppressed women.”
In the rally, People’s Union for Civil Liberties, Mumkin hai Movement, Aadivasi Mahila Jagriti Samiti, Ekal Naari Shakti Sangathan, Udaipur School of Social Works, Pacific College, CPI (M), etc organizations showed their presence.
