Hathipol Businessmen Raise Voice against Parking IssueMore than a dozen businessmen and traders of Hathipol’s Pannadhay Marg have expressed their concern over the illicit parking in the area which disturbs their business and very often causes traffic jams in the area.

Demanding the construction of a cemented divider, the traders group has given a memorandum to the District collector, Municipal Council Chairman and Police Superintendent, today morning.

According to one cloth merchant, “Parking has been a problem since years in this area; by afternoon, a long line of cars are seen to be parked in the middle of Pannadhay Marg, which affects the traffic system and also negatively impacts the businesses.

Another businessman, Abdul Hussain Kutub Ali told UT that the customers who visit Gantaghar and Maldas Street often park their vehicles on the road in a line-fashion.  “We have made several complains but only sometimes does the traffic police pick up a few vehicles or put a no-parking barricade, which does not solve the problem” says Abdul.

We have seen the situation happening in many locations in Udaipur over the years.A perennial problem as the city is growing this problem needs more public support and understanding rather than the administrations interference.

A growing city is bound to face such situations where a walled city area that in the older days saw a few motor vehicles, sees more vehicles parked than the number of human being on the road.

Additionally, this is the same spot that UT had earlier highlighted with the “Animal Market” and demanded a public discussion on how the situation can be resolved.
