Helpers at Free Medicine Centers on strike; demand pay raise

Helpers working at Free Drug Distribution Centers (DDC) run by co-operative stores at Maharana Bhupal Hospital protested with a one day strike from work today.

The Helper Employee Association had presented memorandums to authorities on 6th July and no apparent action was taken in this regard. They have demanded their certain demands be fulfilled before they get back to work.

The demands include pay raise to Rs. 6000 a month, group insurance, defining their work zone, and advantages like PF & ESI.

The association also wants that they should receive their wages by the 5th day of every month and be given extra wages for working on national and other holidays.

Rahul Sharma, speaking on behalf of the Association, “With inflation achieving new highs everyday it is only valid for us to ask for a modest pay raise with advantages received by other government employees. We work continuously from 8am to 4pm; it would be helpful if a time for lunch was defined properly”.

Rajasthan state government distributes free drugs through approximately 15 thousand DDC all over Rajasthan.
