High Court Judge Govind Mathur passed an order on Monday to make Pichola and its linked lakes free from water weed and stop the flowing of sewer in the next 8 days.

The court had filed a soumoto writ petition after scrutinizing the lakes during the Navratri last year especially after the deity submersion in water bodies. The Jodhpur advocates Vinit Sanadhya and Sanjeev Purohit were appointed as high court commissioner and sent to Udaipur to create a report.

According to the report, Madar was cleaned before 15th June, the evidence of which was sent over by Anurag Shukla on the behalf of Nagar Nigam. The report also mentioned the spread of water weed in Swaroop Sagar and Kumhariyo ka Talab, flow of sewer in lakes and of plastics from Seesarma River into the water bodies.

The High Court has ordered the Collector, UIT and Nagar Nigam to solve the aforementioned discrepancies before 15th July and submit evidence.
