Few days back, demolition squad of council was instructed to bring down an illegally raised building in Ashok Nagar; the team returned without implementing its task, on orders of Deputy Chairperson Mahendra Singh Shekawat, justifying his orders with similar constructions in past which are still to be considered.

Looking into the issue, Chairperson had called for an urgent meeting of respective departments and councillors, after a long discussion the meeting concluded on demolishing all such construction, which has raised floors other than permitted ones, also agreed to execute necessary actions in coming weeks.

Sources say that there are around 50 such buildings across town which has been erected against laws and provided guidelines, while some of them had completed construction and are ready for possession, construction of others are in full swing.

Kiran Jain, President, Bhawan Anumati Samiti said, “New permissions are kept on hold for now; files of defaulters are forwarded to Commissioner; orders of further actions reside with Chairperson and Commissioner”.

Meanwhile, in a talk with media Rajni Dangi gave statement, saying, “Irrespective of our decisions it is nearly impossible for the Council to demolish such buildings”, though informed that commercialization of parking spaces in commercial erections would be levied with fine or seizure of permission to run business in the campus.

Similar decisions were taken by the ruling board, but were brought into actions, reason being involvement of big names in the property or close connections with big politicians of city.
