Jain Community Demands action over the attack on Lord Mahaveer's Idol
People of Jain community staged protest in Udaipur today and demanded strict action against the anti-social elements who were involved in demolishing the statue of Lord Mahaveer installed in Hathi Park Lucknow on 17 Aug.
People of Jain community staged protest in Udaipur today and demanded strict action against the anti-social elements who were involved in demolishing the statue of Lord Mahaveer installed in Hathi Park Lucknow on 17 Aug.
Community members protested under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Pulak Jan Chetna Manch and handed a memorandum in the name of District Administrative Authority.
According to the letter, Jain Community has expressed disappointment over the incident and said that, “in a country like India where people from various caste and religion are living since ages, such incident that directly hurts religious sentiments of the community should not be accepted”.
The memo also stated that, “followers of Jainism make only 0.4 percent of Indian population, hence, it should be considered minority to be eligible for more security and additional benefits”.
“The culprits should be caught immediately and should apologize to our community”, said the enclosure.
