Karni Sena demands new review committee
Karni Sena has asked CBFC to include Mahendra Singh Mewar in the review committee.
Karni Sena is active again on the matter of Padmavati. Recently a review committee having 6 members was finalised by CBFC. This committee has included Sriji Arvind Singh Mewar as one of its members. Karni Sena has demanded that the committee be made again by adding Mahendra Singh Mewar or his son Vivshvaraj Singh Mewar.
Members of Karni Sena said that if CBFC does not make changes to the committee, they will once again revolt. They also said that if the committee passes the movie without adding Mahendra Singh Mewar, they will not sit peacefully. Karni Sena said that the committee will have to include Mahendra Singh Mewar as a member. Historical facts in the movie have been fiddled with which is clear from the movie’s teaser and this will not be tolerated.
Vishvaraj Singh had written to PM Modi, CM Vasundhara Raje, Censor Board, State Administration, Minister Smriti Irani, Prakash Javdekar and Rajyaverdhan Singh Rathore appealing to ban Padmavati. He has also said that “Padmavat” written by Malik Mohammed Jaysi cannot be accepted as a historical fact.
It may be noted that Vishvaraj Singh was invited to be a member of the committee, but after he put up a questionnaire to CBFC he was not included in the committee. The list of questions put forth to CBFC is as follows:
-The teaser shows that history has been fiddled with. How could the producer announce the release of film without corrective measures?
-Padmavati was released in UK. Will censor board make changes to UK prints or not?
-A film has been made keeping in mind the culture, heritage and pride of a community. Why were the facts not clarified?
-The film’s teaser has created enough tension in entire country. Will the board take the responsibility of turbulence after the release of the film?
These questions were not answered by CBFC and they did not even include Vishvaraj Singh in the committee.
