Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon – No shade or shelter provided at the swimming pool

Hundreds of children go to the Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon for learning and practicing swimming sessions every day. The sad part is that parents and guardians have to sit under the sun as no shade or shelter has yet been made around the swimming pool.

The work of installing tin shades worth 8 lakh rupees was started some time back but it has come to a halt since past four to five months. Swimming pool of international standards has been made in Khel Gaon. The task of installing tin shades on both sides of the pool was the responsibility of Municipal Corporation. The process of erecting tin shades went at a very slow pace from 2015 until February 2017. The indifferent attitude of the officers brought the work to a halt and even after two years of commencement, the swimming pool still awaits a shade in the waiting area. This pool is the biggest attraction of Khel Gaon for which 700 children have registered. Lack of tin shade has made it difficult for the parents to sit and wait for their kids in the scorching heat.

No speed breakers

Parents are reluctant to send their kids for practicing in spite of all modern facilities. Courts and halls for more than a dozen sports are ready yet lying vacant. Since there are no speed breakers on the roads, especially on the Khel Gaon crossroads, parents are scared to send their children as heavy transport vehicles pass by on that road and children have to wait for the road to be empty before crossing to reach Khel Gaon. Parents have said that the only solution would be making a circle with a red traffic light so that children can cross the road safely.

No practice sessions in rainy season

A number of children come with parents for swimming practices both in morning and evening. If the tin shade work is not completed before the rainy season, the practice sessions might stop altogether.

Amrit Kalyani of Khel Gaon said that construction work does not come under their jurisdiction, hence a letter has been sent to the municipal corporation hoping that the work will be carried out and completed at the earliest.
