Professors of the Mohan Lal Sukhadia University sat on protest today at the University Administration Block. The professors are disappointed that despite of being promoted to the rank of Professor, they are getting their salaries on the pay scale of Associate professor.

33 Associate Professors were promoted as Professors last year under the Career Advancement Scheme.

According to an order issued by Mohan Lal Sukhadia University dated 30/09/2011:

“On the recommendations of the Statuary Selection Committee and pursuant to the Board of Management meeting dated 30/09/2011, the Vice Chancellor is pleased to grant personal promotion by way of designating the following Associate Professors as Professors in the subjects mentioned against their names under the UGC Career Advancement Scheme and is also pleased to place them in the Professor’s Pay Scale of Rs. 37,400-67,000 plus AGP 10000 with immediate effect”.

The professors are also complaining that they also missed the Direct Selection Interviews which were conducted after the CAS interviews because they were satisfied with their promotion, they had already got. Now, it is a big shock for them as the University administration has refused to include is the promised pay scale of professors.

“We are disappointed with such attitude of University administration. If our demands and rights are not taken care of then we will prepare our further strategies. We will go on mass leave, avoid the administrative works and the Teachers Union will also join us in our protest”, said Dr. R. S. Chouhan, Professor, Chemistry, University College of Science.

“The Government of Rajasthan is the final decision maker in this matter. I will put up this issue in the Coordination Committee Meeting which will be taken by the Governor on November 1”, said I. V. Trivedi, Vice Chancellor, MLSU.
