Farmers and Residents of Debari met District collector Vikas Bhale today on the issue of the compensation of the land acquired from them by UIT for the construction of National Highway.

Gyan Prakash Chourdiya, a member of the delegation said that after 2005 large amount of land has been taken from them in the name of extension and development of Udaipur.

He said that it is unfortunate that the bill presented by the Central Government on Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation was not passed in Loksabha to become an Act, otherwise we will be compensated according to the Central Government laws on Acquisition.

Chourdiya said that today the affected people met District collector on the issue and demanded compensation as well as representation in the committee that decides for the compensation amount.

If we do not receive compensation according to DLC rates then the compensation is no good for us. Further, plots with boundary walls must be compensated in accordance with BSR rates. Moreover, UIT has not converted the land to commercial, but people are using this land for commercial purposes since long time, hence our land is also worthy of acquired at commercial rates.

He concluded that Collector has assured us for appropriate action on our demands.
