Negligence of a courier company resulted in America returning the parcels for not following rules. The courier company has been penalised for its negligence.

Varun Mehta resident of Durga Nursery road filed a case against International Global Forwarding Company of Amhedabad for not following rules in case of 4 parcels sent to America. As a result of this negligence, all the handicraft items sent to America in the name of Douglas M Norman resident of Virginia were returned.

Varun Mehta is an exporter of handicrafts and marble items. He had sent 4 parcels in the name of Douglas in Virginia State. These parcels were forwarded through Ahmedabad International Global Forwarding Company which is located in Navrangpura in Ahmedabad. Mehta paid a charge of 1500 dollars to the courier company.

The company did not bother to get immigration and fumigation clearance for the parcels. This resulted in America returning the parcels to India since the important rules were overlooked by courier company. The parcels were not delivered to Douglas instead returned to India. A penalty was also raised for not following rules.

Mehta’s appeal in Consumer court has specified that this negligence has tarnished India’s position as exporter. The Consumer Forum has penalised Ahmedabad courier company with 40 thousand 781 rupees.
