Nela talab in Hiranmagri Sector 14 is one of the small water bodies that were taken over by UIT under conservation project. The same talab stands ignored by administration and has become more of a contaminated water nallah.

Almost a year back, UIT had invested around a crore of rupees for the development of this water body. The area around Nela talab looked developed when sitting arrangements were made, benches were installed, parking area was developed and lighting arrangements were done for the promenade. This had given a good look to the area and public was happy to have a place for relaxation. Drainage system was also improved so that waste does not fall into the water body. But the other side of coin is that wastage is falling into Nela talab and the bed is full of dirt and garbage. Since there hasn’t been enough rainfall, the talab bed can be seen layered with waste and stench is the obvious trouble being faced.

When UIT Secretary was contacted about the condition of this water body, he said that UIT is aware of this condition and will soon take steps to stop dirty water from falling into it.
