Representatives from forty non-governmental organizations, based in the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat and working to prevent water scarcity in the region, have accumulated at Udaipur’s Shilpi Resort today, in a conference held under the aegis of Wells for India organization.

Wells for India, a UK based organization is also celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year. Today’s program was centered on how the desert areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat could be turned green with affluent water resources. Wells for India is actively working in several parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat since1987-88.

Dr. Max Wilson, Chair of Trustee, Wells for India, addressed the guests with the notion of symposium and elaborated various ongoing projects that are being executed in several areas.

They discussed several ways of preserving ground water, rain water and ways to reduce the quantity of water used in our daily chores.

Omprakash Sharma, the local coordinator informed that the conference will discuss, plan and execute the upcoming projects in water scarce areas and will also find a solution to the problems faced by NGOs working to save water.

Magsaysay Award Winner Rajendra Rathore was also present in the conference and shared his perspective on the issue of water scarcity and put forth his apprehension over the issue of environmental degradation.
