‘No Construction Zone’ is day by day becoming a political issue rather than an ‘Environmental Concern’ as the affected parties are having a series of meetings with the local Leaders in order to get help. In the process, a delegation, who demonstrated a ‘Gherav’ at the Municipal Council Commissioner’s office, met Kiran Maheshwari (MLA and National Secretary of BJP) today morning.

Delegation urged Maheshwari to kindly intervene and help them out as Nagar Parishad, UIT had given them notices of demolition. Protester, Dinesh Makwana and Councilor, Durgesh Sharma raised questions against the intention of the authorities which, they alleged, seem to be so interested to demolish their constructions while there are so many illegal constructions after the 17.01.97 notification of the High Court.

Petitioner Rajendra Razdan said, “I don’t know why they are making it a political issue rather than an environmental concern. Only god knows what vested interest these people have”.

He said that, “my struggle is to bring the beauty as well as eco-logical balance of the life line lakes of the Udaipur back to life not to make it a political playground.”

Members of the delegation were in a mode to pressurize the State Government so as to get a way out of this situation. Durgesh Sharma said that if Nagar Parishad and UIT are two different entities then why they have same Advocate Mr. NM Lodha.

Kiran Maheshwari assured the delegation of appropriate action. She is expected to take a high profile meeting on the issue tomorrow as well.

Delegation members in the evening had a conference at the ‘Jagat Shiromani Mandir’ where they decided there future plan of action. Addressing the meeting, Durgesh Sharma, Makwana and Satyapal Singh Dodiya said that if houses are brought down then they will not celebrated diwali and decided to boycott Dussehara & Deepawali Mela.

They also planned to submit a Review Petition on the matter of demolition of the illegal constructions and are trying to take help of Google Map also.
