As per wife Anita Sharma, she was tortured in every way by her husband Sunil in America. Anita got married to Sunil on 7th May 2004. Sunil left for America in 2005 for employment. Three months later Anita joined him there. A child was born to them in America. Around 6 years later, Sunil started torturing Anita for not bringing enough dowry. He tortured her to the extent of physical abuse. After all this harassment, Anita left her husband and returned to India on 19th January 2011. No one from her in-laws’ side went to receive her at the airport. Anita reached Udaipur with her son and appealed to SP 10 months later.

Since he did not respond to any of the notices, police issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) for arresting Sunil. Even the immigration officers were intimated of the same.
He was arrested on 19th November at Indira Gandhi International Airport by officers of security agencies the moment he landed from America. Later Udaipur police were informed who went to Delhi to get Sunil to Udaipur. Court of ACJM-2 have issued orders to keep Sunil on remand until November 24th.
