Onions bring tears without the chopping act
Onion prices make public cry.
They are pungent, they are good for health, they purify blood but all this after bringing tears to your eyes while you chop them. The issue is that onions are bringing tears once again but without being chopped.
The areas producing onions have suffered losses due to rains as most of the produce got rotten because of heavy rains. Nasik, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh which are the main onion producing areas have reported that the rains damaged their crops and the supplies have suffered. Onion which was 15 to 20 rupees per kg has jumped to 60 rupees per kg. Consumers who use onion on daily basis are crying because of the pricing of this crop.
It has also been reported that Udaipur city has witnessed different prices of onion in different parts of the city. It is being sold at 50 to 55 rupees per kg in Savina mandi, at 54 rupees/kg in Reliance Fresh and at 55 rupees in Big Bazar. Public has also informed that it is being sold at 70 rupees in Hiranmagri Sector 4.
