The clash between groups at Pacific University on Saturday brought trouble for the hundreds of innocent students who had to face difficulty at railway and bus stations to get back home.

Various students were stranded at railway stations and bus stands at Udaipur, Mount Abu, Ajmer at odd hours waiting for any means of transportations to reach back home safely.

The university management had announced a 7-days shut down and immediately asked the students to evacuate the hostels fearing any untoward incidents.  The students had vandalized the college property, furniture and vehicles on Saturday afternoon after a Kashmiri student and the mess staff had a minor scuffle over cleanliness issue. A Kasmiri student Shailendra Singh had refused to eat in a dirty plate which resulted into a hot conversation and later into campus violence.

“Only male students were made to leave the hostel immediately while the girls were safe inside the hostels” said additional SP Rajesh Bharadwaj. The varsity arranged buses for the students up to Ajmer but train reservation wasn’t ensured.

Though the university administration had assured that they would arrange for the railway reservations for the outstation students, however, when most of the students boarded the train to Kashmir from Ajmer junction, they could find no place to sit.

Many were forced to sit outside toilets, galleries of the compartments while many had to stand for hours during the long and tiring journey. Most of the students who didn’t come from well off families were also worried for they didn’t have enough money even to buy meals. Meanwhile the university administration has ensured to hold an inquiry in the episode and take disciplinary action against erring students and staff.
