“Padmavati” row- movie set burnt down in Maharashtra

Opposition against Padmavati travelled from Jaipur to Maharashtra. The protesters reached Kolhapur where the film was being shot and vandalised the set. More than 50 protesters went to Masai Pathar in Kolhapur with their faces covered and started destroying the set, threw stones at the vehicles and set fire to the shooting site. Labour present were severely bashed up. Police has registered a case against the masked protesters and have started their investigations.

As per police reports, the protesters reached late night on Tuesday around 3 a.m. and attacked the labour. They set fire to the items kept for shooting like weapons, expensive footwear and other stuff. One of the drivers, Mahadev Kerappa, who was sleeping in the vehicle was pulled out and battered. The protesters ran away when the driver started shouting. The stable was also set on fire as a result of which two horses got singed. Later fire brigade reached the spot and put out the flames.

Social Justice Empowerment  Minister Arun Chaturvedi informed that a ban has been imposed on the filming of ‘Padmavati’, permission for which will be given only after reading the entire script. Before the release of the movie, it will be first shown to the members of Rajput Karni Sena and their approval will be taken on the content of the movie.
