A series of protests were held today against spiritual guru Asaram outside Collectorate office, Udaipur. The protestors were demanding quick arrest of Asaram who had been recently booked under serious offences of molestation and rape of an underage girl.

As per latest reports in media, charges or rape have been dropped by Jodhpur police after taking into consideration the statements made by the minor victim. The self-styled godman has now been booked under Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act.

Several social groups reached Collectorate to express their anger over issue. The protestors also handed a memorandum to administrative authority and alleged that the delay in action against Asaram is a clear case of differential treatment in law of a common man versus an influential person.

Summon was issued today by Jodhpur police to appear before them in the next four days.
