Protest continues over Sarabjit Singh’s assassination
Sarabjit Singh, an Indian prisoner assassinated in Pakistan Jail, was cremated at his ancestral village Bhikhiwind with complete state honor. Sarabjit, who was on death row and lodged at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, following a brutal attack by fellow inmates.

Sarabjit Singh, an Indian prisoner assassinated in Pakistan Jail, was cremated at his ancestral village Bhikhiwind with complete state honor. Sarabjit, who was on death row and lodged at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, following a brutal attack by fellow inmates.
Series of protests and demonstration were reported from all over country against the alleged indolent conduct of Indian administration in handling Sarabjit’s case with Pakistan. Protestors also accused Pakistan of killing Sarabjit in retaliation of Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru’s hanging by Indian authority.
Sikh community of Udaipur expressed their anger over Sarabjit’s death and presented a memorandum to Udaipur District Collector.
Under the banner of Gurudwara Sachh Khand Darbar, a mass prayer was also organized in the memory of Sarabjit Singh.
Singh was arrested in Pakistan in 1990 and was convicted of masterminding bomb blast in Pakistan. He was then given death sentence for the same.
