Booked for Wrong Date but still tickets given at PVR Udaipur and later ousted from Theatre. PVR tickets blunder, embarrassed family

One of our readers booked the movie tickets at PVR Online for recently released flick RA.ONE and went to watch the movie with his family on October 29 for the 20:40 show.

He had selected the seats specifically for Saturday, October 29, but the ticket confirmation was generated for 28 October. He failed to realise that he had got the booking confirmation for the wrong day, 28 October (the day before) instead of October 29.

However, what annoyed the family was that when they had shown the wrong ticket booking confirmation on the ticket counter (@20:30hrs on 29October), the operator at the counter even issued them tickets for October 28, 2011 – the same details as per the booking.

“My family members took the tickets, went past the check-in and were given the seats as per the ticket. After a while we all were asked to leave the theatre as it was realised that the tickets were wrong”, said the reader.

On asking the ticket counter for explanation as to why they were given the tickets in the first place, they were told that since the system showed the ticket number, they simply printed the tickets and gave it. “If we had been told at the counter itself that the ticket booked was for the wrong day, it would have saved some embarrassment”, he said.

It is surprising that a sophisticated online booking system permits such an error – when tickets for an already past day are allowed to be printed and even the operator does not check the paper being handed out.
