Residents of Adarsh Nagar launched a protest against the action taken by Udaipur Municipal Council for diverting water that had gathered at a residential complex located at New Keshav Nagar, through their area. It may be noted that New Keshav Nagar is located very close to Roop Sagar and gets flooded during excessive rains.

Rakhi Mali, ward councilor of the area, told that people of Adarsh Nagar do not want the water diversion to pass through their colony as they had to face heavy water logging last year due to same.

“Earlier when we tried to pull out water through this colony, water started to gather inside the houses of the residents”, said Mali.

Facing the huge protest by the residents, Udaipur Municipal Council’s Chairperson Rajni Dangi visited the area and talked to the locals. She tried to convince people and assured to get a permanent solution for the same.

According to experts, the water gathered is at the low lying area near New Keshav Nagar and has no outlet. Being near a school, the water logging makes it very difficult for the students to come to the school. Further, in stagnant waters, there is possibility of malaria and other water borne disease, posing a hazard to the resident’s health.
